CMAG Meeting at Autodesk Headquarters August 26-27
Posted on 07/28/2010The 45th meeting of the Computer Market Analysis Group (CMAG) meeting will be held at Autodesk headquarters in San Francisco, California on August 26-27.
The theme of the meeting is "Better MI through Web/Business/Customer Analytics", and the focus will be on providing you with innovative approaches for turbo-charging your MI practices through the use of cutting-edge analytic tools and approaches related to web/business/customer analytics, and the integration of these tools and approaches with your existing market research activities. The agenda committee has worked hard over the past couple of months to put together a meeting that is sure to be both thought-provoking and enjoyable. Here are some of the highlights:
- Given the dramatic growth of activity on the internet, companies are finding it essential to look beyond traditional market research, and to focus on understanding the behaviors we can now measure with web analytics. Omniture (http://www.omniture.com/), is a market leader in this space, with a focus on building capabilities to enable digital marketing optimization. Vice President of Consulting Matt Belkin will share the Omniture perspective and will provide some context on the market landscape, as well as some insights about how Omniture's customers are using these capabilities.
- Dan Neely, CEO of Networked Insights (http://www.networkedinsights.com/) will share techniques for using social media analytics to empower more effective marketing strategies and tactics, with case studies and real stories that deal with core marketing functions such as campaign strategy, campaign evaluation, digital ad spending, and product innovation. Dan will show how social media analytics are being employed for everything from advising TV ad buys to redesigning bacon packaging.
- Michael McCarroll, VP of Customer Solutions for Lattice Engines (http://www.lattice-engines.com/) will show how the acquisition of employee profile information from sources such as LinkedIn can overcome the inherent limitations associated with estimating end-customer demand using traditional firmographics. Michael's session will include a case study shared by one of his customers.
- Susan Etlinger, Consultant at Altimeter Group (http://www.altimetergroup.com/), which has pioneered a new framework for measuring results in social media, will share her perspective on the use of insights gleaned from social technologies to drive a variety of marketing activities ranging from strategic planning to tactical implementation, based on her experience from working with companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 organizations.
- Perspectives from several CMAG member firms will also be highlighted. During one of these sessions, Kevin Mann of IBM will conduct a demo of a system developed by IBM Research called "Banter" - which monitors, categorizes and tracks web activity on specified topics of interest; Kevin will also provide a case study of a "human reader messaging analysis" on cloud computing that his group recently completed, and will share a methodology for conducting this type of analysis.
There is no cost for CMAG members to attend. For more information, please contact Jeff Young at (541) 552-9410 or jeff.young@iprcorp.com.
