Goal- employee/respondent to "engineer" or "build" the benefits package that:
  • Best meets his/her needs.
  • Is consistent with his/her "compensation" budget.
Process- employee/respondent builds the benefits package by evaluating alternative levels of several benefit categories:
  • Benefit categories selected for inclusion may be based on the results of focus group studies.
  • Between five and twenty benefits would typically be included, with 2 to 6 options per benefit.
